Marta Botet Borràs

I'm Marta Botet Borràs, a Barcelona-born filmmaker and audiovisual creative based in New York City.

Working across directing, cinematography, editing, and creative production, my practice moves between fiction, documentary, and commercial work. I am drawn to observational cinema, everyday rituals, memory, and the quiet details that make ordinary life worth looking at.

With a background in Audiovisual Communication from Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, I approach filmmaking through a multidisciplinary lens, combining an interest in visual storytelling with a longstanding relationship with literature and criticism. My experience spans independent film, music videos, fashion, and advertising, alongside cultural and editorial projects.

I am currently developing my practice as a filmmaker through projects that explore human relationships, personal histories, and the ways we understand ourselves and the places we call home.

My relationship with storytelling began with Recomanacions de Llibres, a literary criticism blog and YouTube channel I founded in 2011. This early exploration of literature and digital media led to collaborations across publishing, television, radio, and education, as well as a TEDYouth talk in New York in 2015 on the past, present, and future of reading.

Moving between Barcelona and New York, I continue to explore the intersections of film, literature, and visual culture, approaching each project as a way of looking a little closer at the world around me.
